Welcome Home is a celebration of new beginnings. It's a triumphant brass and percussion fanfare commissioned by MacPhail Center for Music, one of the nation's largest community music schools, for the opening of its new flagship building in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The work was written specifically for the large atrium-like performance space found immediately inside the main entryway. During the piece, antiphonal brass can be heard approaching from afar, symbolizing the transference of music from MacPhail's old location to its amazing new home.

The work is written for an 11-piece brass ensemble and an 8-piece percussion section plus an antiphonal brass quartet with a single snare drum. The on-stage ensemble parts may be doubled to accommodate larger ensembles. The antiphonal musicians should be off-stage and led by an assistant conductor. The trumpet part ascends to a concert C.
